THE FAUX LEATHER JACKET

I had two items on my January sales wish list…one being a pair of United Nude shoes and the later a quilted leather jacket.

Having nabbed the shoes I set about the task of hunting down the perfect jacket which proved a bit tiresome.
Leather is a funny thing sometimes. It can have this horrible habit of being far too shiny, or too buttery soft (wear it a few times & it’s gonna rip!), you can look too biker chick/emo if you get my meaning and then don’t get me started on the price!

I had spotted a few on Asos & a gorgeous racer one in All Saints but in the end opted for cheap and cheerful pleather alternative which I found in Miss Selfridge last week.

Now I know I know! Usually the sheer thought of plastic leather sends shivers down my spine…cheap, nasty and synthetic all spring to mind, but I love this jacket and pleather does have it’s pros!

* waterproof (no treating this jacket to some waxy substance!)
* no shine factor (hooray!)
* budget friendly
* light

I found it in the petite section & the fit is great on my small frame. They also have it in standard measurements but the detailing is a brassy colour.

Below is what I wore yesterday:

Jacket: Miss Selfridge
Sheepskin collar: vintage
Top: H&M
Skirt: H&M
Boots: Ash

Coincidentally FashionToast has just posted a similar & far superior Outfit of the Day on her AMAZING blog wearing THE All Saints jacket I have been lusting for. Unfortunately it costs over £300 whereas mine was a bargaintastic £55 *nods*

Saying that though…the inspiration for my OOTD came from Benefit’s glamorous resident makeup artist Lisa Potter-Dixon who snapped wearing this fab outfit at the recent Benefit/DietCoke bloggers event:
