SPONSORED VIDEO: Merino Wool No Finer Feeling

Merino wool is something I always associate with my mother. Ever since I can remember she has always spoken of the benefits of Merino wool. How warm it keeps you and how soft it feels.

It was her constant praise for this fibre that led me to buy plenty of Merino wool jumpers when I lived in New Zealand for a year. With wool aplenty over there, high street fashion stores stock good quality wool jumpers that to this day I treasure. Before moving to New Zealand I didn’t know that this fabric could be so versatile and that a woolen jumper didn’t have to be something so bulky to be warm!

It’s misconceptions like this that have led to the ‘Merino. No Finer FeelingTM’ campaign which is a global fibre education campaign aiming to inform consumers about the benefits and attributes of Merino wool.

In the UK, disposable fashion is big business but I’ve noticed that the quality of many garments in high street stores have become increasingly poor in quality. Not just the stitching but the fabric chosen. Winter jumpers and coats which were once meant to keep us warm are now made with mixed man made fibres as oppose to naturally warm fibres such as wool. I love the high street designs and I love their affordability but I often find myself layering up to stay warm!

Thankfully there are some great high street stores that understand the benefits of pure wool, not only because of it’s warmth, but because it allows your skin to breath and being a naturally sourced fibre it is also sustainable.

I know many people often associate wool with itchiness and to top that it can be difficult to wash and maintain, but Merino wool is surprisingly easy to take care of and it doesn’t itch!

Margarita Missoni describes Merino as “The only wool that doesn’t tickle”

It doesn’t bobble as easily as Cashmere or Angora either, and it’s so versatile that you can now find some Merino garments that are machine washable.
