I’ve had the most magical & memorable weekend. For my birthday my lovely bf booked us in for a spot of glamping in the beautiful Dorset countryside. If you don’t know what glamping is it’s basically luxury camping & we stayed in a beautiful bell tent complete with king size bed & wood burning stove. It was AMAZING!
We stayed at the Crafty Camping site which is located in Holditch, Dorset. The campsite is magical. From the arched entrance, to the winding path that takes you into the heart of the woodlands, everything has been carefully planned & considered. It is so tranquil & peaceful.
Guy Mallinson who runs the campsite is a super friendly guy, showing us around on the first day & making sure we had everything we needed. The campsite features a communal yurt which includes traditional board games & free wifi.
The communal kitchen area has all the essentials including a wood burning pizza oven for the adventurous!
There are several different types of “tents” there which include yurts, shepherds hut, bell tents & tipi:
Our tent – nestled away in the woods with it’s own little private woodland path:
The yurts, shepherds hut & tipi all have their own private toilets & shower, but we opted for a bell tent as we wanted that tent experience. They don’t have “en suites” but you do get to use the most incredible shower ever…see *points below*
There is something so liberating about showering outside! No one can see you in the shower hut so it’s all very private, but you get the benefit of a open roof so you can see the trees & sky above.
If all this wasn’t enough in terms of luxury, the site also had a sauna in a yurt…(!) We got up early every morning to use it & it feels SOOO good to walk outside in the woodlands radiating heat. The BEST way to start the day…I am having serious withdrawal symptoms already
Apologies for this post being so picture heavy but I hope you like all the photos! The campsite is about a 3 hour drive from London & just the perfect escape to unwind & relax. The bf & I had such a lovely time here & we are lucky that it only rained once when we were there, but even then there was something very soothing about falling asleep to the sound of the pouring rain whilst nestled inside a warm & cosy tent!
We stayed three nights & have plans to return again. It is definitely one of the most peaceful & relaxing places I have been to. Much needed & much cherished.
Huge thanks to Guy & Dudley (below!) for their fantastic hospitality & for making us feel so welcome! Dudley…I miss your little morning visits!
