The Collagen Candy Craze is here!

It’s no secret that collagen is big news in Asia. Last time I was in Japan I was amazed at how many products promoted collagen. Lotions, potions & even food had the words emblazoned across their boxes. Heck I even saw a girl at the airport wearing a t-shirt that said “I ♥ collagen”!

It’s taken a while to reach the UK but Brazilian beauty brand Beauty’In have launched a range of edible collagen goodies, available exclusively at Selfridges.

In this range you will find Beauty Bars, Beauty Drinks, Beauty Candy & Beauty Tea, all of which are infused with collagen (the protein responsible for the firmness and elasticity of the skin) as well as being rich in proteins & vitamins. Together these ingredients combine to help boost your health & wellbeing.

I popped along to the Selfridges launch where I was kindly given some samples to try, all of which were surprisingly tasty!
The nifty Beautydrink bottle requires you to push the cap down first to release the active ingredients into the water. Love this concept as each flavour is free from preservatives and contains 12 calories or fewer per bottle.

The Beauty Candy looks a bit like Haribo, only the little bears are packed with collagen protein & vitamins. Eat 12 of these little creatures to get 2g of collagen as well as vitamins & protein into your system. A small box costs £2.50 & the larger, £8.50.

I also tried the BeautyBars which are organic cereal bars containing hydrolyzed collagen, gold linseed and enriched in vitamins and antioxidants. I  found they were great for breakfast on the go & taste very much like your typical muesli bar, with dried fruit & honey to sweeten. Each bar contains less than 120 calories & cost £2.50

I think you need to take these products over the course of a few months to notice any real change so I can’t say that I noticed any benefits during the three days I consumed them. That being said they taste great, love the fact that they are guilt free snacks & are surprisingly reasonable when it comes to price. Any other benefits is an added bonus!
