April Glossybox – Pearl Lowe edition

glossybox april 2013
First off I have to admit I have been quite disappointed with the last bunch of Glossyboxes that I have received. I just found that the products in the last few boxes just haven’t excited me & didn’t really inspire me to write about them (sorry Glossybox!)
However, this month’s box was a complete & utter treat!
Upon opening the parcel, the first thing that struck me was the beautiful box. Designed by the fantastic Pearl Lowe, it’s got a lovely vintage appeal to it, adorned in intricately illustrated flowers.

The contents inside were also amazing!

glossy1Contents:
Essie “Cute as a Button” full size nail polish (rrp £7.99)
Crabtree & Evelyn “Somerset Meadow Hand Therapy” 25g (full size 100g £14)
Nip & Fab “Dry Skin Fix Body Butter in Pistachio 50ml (full size 200ml £9.95)
Illamsaqua Medium Pencil “Manic” full size (rrp £13)
Yves Rocher So Elixir Purple fragrance luxury sample (full size 50ml £44)

The standout products for me are definitely the full size Essie nail polish & Illamasqua Medium Pencil. Either one of these in a box alone would have made me super happy, but to get both was a real surprise & treat & I LOVE both of the shades!
Crabtree & Evelyn’s “Somerset Meadow Hand Therapy” is an exclusive Glossy Box launch & will officially be released in stores on the 29th April.  It’s a nice handbag friendly size & smells really nice & fresh. Reminds me of a fragrance I have but for the life of me can’t put my finger on it! Really nice & moisturising so this one is a definite thumbs up from me.

Not quite the same can be said for the Nip & Fab Pistachio body butter mind you. I’m not adverse to foodie scents but this one is just a little bit too much. I LOVE the Laura Mercier Pistachio skin range but this Nip & Fab one smells more like Pandan to me…might give this one to my brother :P

Last up is the So Elixir Purple fragrance from Yves Rocher. I like that it’s a good luxury sample, not a spray sample like what you can sometimes get from the counters, but a proper glass bottle with a little box to boot. The fragrance is purple in colour, it’s not really my kind of scent, quite a sweet floral one with Tuberose, Vetiver & Patchouli as the main ingredients. Still it’s a nice addition to a very good box!

(disclosure: PR sample)
